Module Description: Through detailed score study and writing of composition exercises, the learner will achieve enhanced competence in composing for a variety of forces. The learner will gain fluency in extended compositional expression.

Score study
Analysis of contemporary musical literature for large-scale forces
Instrumental writing and research
Exploration of the repertory for ensemble, choir and orchestra with emphasis on idiomatic and innovative instrumental treatment. Collaborate with instrumentalists and conductors
Presentation of Portfolio
Presentation of an acceptable performing edition of a minimum of three works (20 minutes), audio and visual record of performances and insightful reflections on the composition process

Submission of a minimum of 3 scores, which are of acceptable standard for rehearsal and public performance, for an ensemble of 10-15 instruments, Wind Ensemble, String Orchestra or Symphony Orchestra, a recording of the works and analytical commentary
