This module focuses on the key principles concerned with physical activity and children. The content is informed by current research and provides opportunity for engagement with a school based physical activity intervention.

Fundamental Movement Skills
Teach and asess proficiency in locomotor, object control and stability skills of a class group in a primary school setting.

Growth and Maturation
Physical and motor development of children.
Exercise physiology of children.
Factors that affect children and adolescents of both genders participation in sport, physical activity and exercise.

Activity programming
Physical activity guidelines for children.Barriers to physical activity participation.
Intervention programmes targeting children with chronic disease risk factors, obesity and sedentary lifestyle behaviours.

Ethical considerations
Ethical responsibilities and principles relevant for working with children in a physical activity promotion domain.
|
Key stakeholders
Evaluate the supporting role of key stakeholders in establishing links with children, parents, schools, coaches, communities and policy practitioners.

Literature review
Critique the scientific literature, both policy and practice, with regard to children and physical activity.
