Module Description: This is the fourth in a progressive series of specialised instrumental performance modules. It enables individual students to propose, manage and lead a musically engaging major public performance with significant technical and stylistic content. As the final performance module in this series, appropriately high levels of musicality, fluency and performance flair are expected. Individual tutorials address the specialised developmental needs of the individual learner.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Perform a musically engaging 40 minute public performance of varied, sophisticated and stylistically authentic popular repertory.
LO2 Musically engage an audience through expressive manipulation of the chosen instrument.
LO3 Demonstrate the naturalisation of core instrumental technique and progressive internalisation of advancing technical challenges on the chosen instrument.
LO4 Demonstrate the progressive high-level ability to sight read and present accurate transcriptions at short notice.
LO5 Demonstrate the refined leadership skills necessary to plan, manage and deliver the proposed performance.

Indicative Content
Naturalisation of Core Instrumental Technique:
Naturalisation of core instrumental technique and continued internalisation of advancing technical ability facilitates the significant development of advanced musical expression, creativity and performance flair.
Transposition:
Transposing at sight - up/down within an octave – where appropriate to specific instrument.
Independent Learning:
Progression toward independent learning autonomy.
Professional Objectives:
Alignment of professional objectives with progressive performance practice in preparation for graduation and subsequent employment.
Leadership:
Consolidation of interpersonal and leadership skills.
Promotion & Marketing Development:
Assessment, consolidation and expansion of promotional and marketing skills - engaging with and utilising the appropriate current tools available to the modern day performer.
Continuous Assessment:
The student is monitored on a weekly basis. Considerations such as attendance/ punctuality, participation/ leadership, preparedness and specialised programme development/ technical development are all taken into account in the context of the progressive requirements of the module.
