Module Description: |
This is the third in a progressive series of specialised instrumental performance modules. Individual students propose, manage and publicly perform a varied and engaging 40-minute public performance. The self-directed element of this performance requires the student to display maturity and leadership. It is informed through progressive self-assessment, independent learning and relevant critical analysis. Individual tutorials address the specialised developmental needs of the individual learner.

Propose, plan, promote and lead a musically engaging 40 minute public performance of varied and sophisticated popular music repertory. |

Demonstrate the progressive internalisation of technical patterns and advanced mechanics on the chosen instrument. |

Create, present and expressively perform a precise transcription of assigned challenging repertory showing fluency and flair. |
LO4 |
Display confidence, expertise and finesse to perform an unprepared piece at sight in time with a click/ backing track. |
LO5 |
Demonstrate the self-awareness and maturity necessary to address performance goals. |

Indicative Content |
Complex Technical and Musical Considerations:
Intensive programme that focuses on the progressive internalisation of advancing technical considerations, mature musical expression and performance flair. It contains advanced study and application of complex instrument-specific scales, arpeggios and rudiments, challenging sight-reading, advanced technical etude repertory, detailed transcription, transposing at sight - up/down a fifth – where appropriate to specific instrument and demanding self-assessment.

Independent Learning:
Efficient and effective application of intensive self-directed study.

Maturity & Leadership:
The continued development of the student's leadership ability requires new levels of maturity to bring the quality of interactions with others forward - facilitating and leading a performance from conception to presentation.

Promotion & Marketing:
Significant engagement with the current promotional marketing tools available for independently produced musical performance leading to appropriate strategies to attract a public audience.

Continuous Assessment:
The student is monitored on a weekly basis. Considerations such as attendance/ punctuality, participation/ leadership, preparedness and specialised programme development/ technical development are all taken into account in the context of the progressive requirements of the module.
