Indicative Content |
Advancing Technical and Musical Considerations:
Intense focus is placed on advancing technical ability and the instrumental application of in-depth stylistic knowledge required to facilitate musical expression and flair in the performance of varied repertory.
|
Exercises, Rudiments, Scales & Arpeggios:
Advanced study and progressive contextual application of instrument-specific exercises, rudiments, scales and arpeggios.
|
Advanced Instrumental Musicianship:
Progressive development of sight-reading confidence and competence is facilitated. Regular critical analysis and performance of challenging transcriptions advance the student’s instrumental musicianship.
|
Transposition:
Introduction of the ability to transpose at sight – up and down a tone – appropriate to the specific chosen instrument.
|
The Developing Learner:
Regular self-assessment by the learner is used to inform realistic goal setting and efficient time management of practice. This begins the process of moving the student towards the ability to learn independently without the support offered by a third level institution after graduation. The student’s engagement with the process is guided, monitored and developed continuously throughout the module by the instrumental lecturer.
