Module Description: |
This is the fifth in a progressive series of skill-centered modules. It enables students to demonstrate musically competent performance skills – working towards advanced technical ability. Students will begin to demonstrate their ability to engage with independent learning, applying knowledge garnered from critical listening and chart creation. Students will also learn to confidently execute sight-reading.

Smoothly perform a stylistically authentic programme of musical and technical content. |

Demonstrate competence in the technical patterns and mechanics required to develop advanced control of the chosen instrument. |

Demonstrate accurate ability and instrumental control to perform an unprepared piece at sight in time with an optional click/ backing track. |
LO4 |
Create, present and confidently perform an accurate chart for an assigned piece of repertory. |
LO5 |
Demonstrate the ability to control quality tone production over a wide dynamic range. |

Technical and Musical Skills:
Progressive instrument-specific course of study aimed at advancing technical competency - allowing for greater focus to be placed on musical expression over time.

Exercises, Rudiments, Scales & Arpeggios:
Progressive study and application of advanced instrument-specific exercises, rudiments, scales and arpeggios as appropriate to the specific chosen instrument.

Sight-Reading:
Accuracy and composure are expected when presented with sight-reading in both group and individual contexts.
|
Transcription:
Progressive transcription exercises are continued – always with a view to critical analysis and developing independent learning skills - addressing varied styles and genres. Students continue to chart progressively challenging repertory - employing their advancing transcription skills.
