This is the second in a progressive series of skill-centered modules. It enables students to develop their fundamental technical, rhythmic and stylistic performance skills.

Display consolidated fundamental technical instrumental/vocal skills. |

Demonstrate technical and stylistic skills by replicating fundamental repertory. |

Apply fundamental technical skills to play a straightforward unprepared piece at sight. |

Present etude repertoire appropriate to his/her instrument in time with an optional click/backing track. |

Interact rhythmically with other musicians/ backing track at a fundamental level. |

Indicative Content |
Technique:
Development of fundamental technique through a combination of basic instrument-specific etudes, rudiments, scales & arpeggios where appropriate to the chosen instrument.

Reading:
Progression of fundamental reading ability including the study of basic ensemble etudes and charts with simple notated ensemble figures.
|
Rhythmic Skills:
Rhythmic interaction with both metronome and backing tracks play a central role in group lessons.
|
Repertory Engagement:
Progressive study of key musicians from the chosen instrument’s history is used to inform the relevant introduction of basic stylistic considerations in performance.
