Module Description: The aim of the Portfolio Development module is the combination of all disciplines in the development, production and implementation of high quality media products. This project should promote understanding of the professional issues and tools associated with a media product in the area of interactive media, animation, game, video or sound. There is an emphasis on conceptual design, professional methods, techniques standard workflows and project management.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Creatively deliver a selection of short linear/non-linear media which can be displayed on a digital portfolio.
LO2 Apply project management techniques, tools and strategies throughout the lifecycle of several small projects with an emphasis on tight deadlines.
LO3 Implement an appropriate range of specialised software and hardware tools in the execution and completion of a project;
LO4 Negotiate a range of design communication and organisational problems which occur in a multidisciplinary team environment;
LO5 Utilise research and presentation methods in the development of a project.

Projects
Below are a sample set of short short projects which could be chosen
Project “Video Game Promo”
A proof of concept for those interested in graphic novels, sketching, illustration, 3d modeling, concept art and gaming in general.
Project “Motion Graphics”
Aimed at popular online competitions such as 99frames where the designer has to create a very short animation based on a single word theme.
Project “VFX”
This project would encourage experimentation with video compositing techniques using pre-shot video plates and avoiding commercial or stock footage.
Project "Cinematic Titles"
Merging typography and layout with motion graphics for fictitious movie credits.
