Module Description: This module is a comprehensive and practical introduction to Multimedia Project Management, investigating efficiency and effectiveness of traditional and agile project management techniques and applying the skills and knowledge developed on a student project.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Investigate the role and impact of project management in multimedia.
LO2 Describe Agile and traditional project management life cycles in a multimedia project.
LO3 Identify the considerations required in the planning, analysis, budgeting, tracking and delivery of a multimedia project in-order to improve project teamwork, project timeliness, quality of deliverables, customer participation, and customer satisfaction in the project.
LO4 Evaluate project team group dynamics and how good communication and work practices influence the team dynamics.
LO5 Identify project risks and how they may contribute to project success or failure.

Overview
Multimedia projects. Agile vs Waterfall Project management, stakeholders, teams and multimedia organisational structures. Project Management Life-Cycle. Project Management stages. Product success & failure. Project & Time Management Software.
Project Planning
Overview of Project Planning: Use Cases, Statement of work - client & consumer objectives, product back log, customer involvement. The Work Breakdown Structure: task and skills analysis, estimating activity, project time. Project scope and phases: planning, sprints, handover, customer acceptance, retrospectives.
Project Management Practises
Time Management. Task Management. Team Management. Budget considerations. Project & Time Management Software. Agile Principles and practises.
Change, Risk, Communication and Infrastructure Management
Manage change in Multimedia Project. Risk Management and Contingency Planning. Management of Communication in team, with customer and other stakeholders. Establishing and continually improving an infrastructure in the project to support communication and development.
Quality Management
Importance of quality assurance and management of multimedia products: maintenance, quality management concepts and techniques, quality control tools, sampling/testing. Management techniques, 80/20, total quality management (TQM). Client Quality & Validation Considerations: ISO, 508. The role of the customer in assessing quality.
