Module Description: Introduce design students to experimental print techniques and skills that will develop creativity and drawing skills in future design projects.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Identify printmaking processes used in graphic design.
LO2 Create images appropriate to the print processes being addressed.
LO3 Communicate an awareness of color mixing, pictorial structure,control of line and value in prints.
LO4 Produce prints as part of the creative investigation process for design.
LO5 Discuss and analyse the importance of health and safety and environmental considerations as they apply to the use of print materials and equipment.

Indicative Content
Printmaking
Exploring a range of Printmaking processes: Mono Printing, Relief Printing, Intaglio Printing and Screen Printing. Using top roll and multimedia as well as non conventional tools to create marks. Layout and structure of prints with emphasis on line control and tone. Workshop practice health and safety and use of equipment.
