This module is designed to introduce the student to the core elements of project management. The module explores the project lifecycle and project management knowledge areas, adopting current tools and techniques including current project management software.

Attributes of projects, project constraints, project stakeholders, role and responsibilities of the project manager, success factors, reasons for failure

Project, Program and Portfolio Management
Differentiate between projects, programs, and portfolios; Project selection methods including competitive strategy, financial projections, balanced scorecard, weighted scoring model, time frame, priority, and addressing organisational problems; Creating programs to yield synergies; Selecting portfolios for enterprise success

Stages of the Project Lifecycle/Process Groups
Initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closing

Project Management Body of Knowledge
PMBOK Knowledge Areas: Integration, Scope, Cost, Time, Human Resources, Procurement, Risk, Quality, Communications and Stakeholder Management.

Plan a project using an appropriate software package
