Module Description: This module develops the students knowledge and application of the classical strokes of massage for a full body massage treatment. The module prepares students for the completion of clinical case studies.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Intro. to Holistic Massage
 
Indicative Content
Application and assessment of classic holistic massage techniques.
Application and modification of classic holistic massage techniques in a full body treatment. Suitability of classical strokes in accordance with clients needs and requirements. Case studies.
Anatomical structures
Position, structure, function, and diseases of selected body systems.
Massage as preventative health care.
Massage as complementary to orthodox medicine. Role of massage in stress management, injury prevention and promotion of well being.
Regulations and requirements in relation to massage therapy.
Insurance. Government regulations. Membership of professional associations. Code of ethics and work practice guidelines.
Setting up a practice and employment.
Business opportunities in the health and fitness industry. General guidelines.
