Module Description: The camera and indeed photography itself, is more than a simple method of recording objects or events. In fact its use as a tool for expression through creative image making has a long tradition. This module looks at this aspect of Photography and attempts to broaden the visual experience of the student by examining the works of established Photographers/Artists and through such analysis incorporate such techniques into their own work.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO5 Identify established Practitioners in the field of contemporary Photography.

The Camera
The basics of Photography. The camera controls. Lenses, types and uses. Aperture and exposure. Focus control and its creative uses.
Contemporary Practionerrs
An examination of the work of established practitioners operating within the field of Photography
Visualisation
The camera as a tool for visualisation. How basic controls and processes can be used for creative purpose.
Storytelling
Imagery in sequence. The use of Photographic based imagery as essay.
Presentation
The role of presentation in the creative process. The influence of scale and format and how they can be used to creative effect.
Alternatives
Pre & Post processing of imagery. Options and workflow
