Application of the principles of training to aerobic and anaerobic training. Maintenance of aerobic and anaerobic fitness. Testing aerobic and anaerobic fitness levels.

Understanding human energy expenditure
Methods of measuring energy expenditure. Direct and indirect calorimetry. Energy costs of a variety of sports and physical activities.

Physiological monitoring before, during and post exercise.
Including measurement of blood pressure, blood lactate, creatin kinase and cortisol.

Effect of environmental conditions on exercise performance.
Effect of heat and humidity, cold and altitude on exercise performance.

New methods of measurement and monitoring.
This section of the module will introduce new methods for laboratory and field testing and monitoring of athletic performance and player welfare.
