Module Description: This module is one of the Exercise Professional suite. The leisure industry is characterised by constantly evolving commercial trends. This module is designed to provide the student with exposure to and expertise in a range of the most current commercial trends in group exercise leadership.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Fitness industry Trends
Teaching techniques for delivering a variety of group exercise classes such as Indoor Cycling, Bootcamp, Kettlebells and Stability Ball.
Advanced Instructional Skills
Observation and correction appropriate for the group exercise setting. Adaptation and progression of exercise techniques. Choreography.Correct music tempo. Verbal and visual cueing. Correct use of equipment.
Fitness Industry Issues
Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS), Insurance, Accident Reporting, Voice Care, Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO)
Planning and Evaluating
Written and Verbal Screening. Planning safe and effective exercise classes in a commercial setting. Evaluating the effectiveness of current trends in a fitness programme.
