Module Description: The aim of this module is to develop the student’s capability for self-directed learning and critical reflection with regard to the research, design, development, and implementation of pedagogically effective e-learning and technology-enhanced learning solutions which address real client and learner needs. The module builds on both pedagogical and technical skills, knowledge and competence gained in previous modules of the programme and culminates in the development of an original e-learning solution.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Manage work and outputs in a professional manner with respect to established project management and software/multimedia development principles and practices
LO3 Critically analyse user requirements based on iterative user-centred design and related methods
LO4 Critically reflect on the broader contexts of his/her work with respect, in particular, to current trends in e-learning as practice and discipline
LO5 Develop a pedagogically effective e-learning solution to address specific real world learning and learner requirements

Definitions and frameworks of HCI/usability/user experience; User / design heuristics for interactive applications; Traditional Usability Methods and Metrics; Accessibility and universal design; Usability/UX and learning.
E-learning Project Management
Scoping e-learning/interactive media projects; project stages and their management; generic project management concepts and tools; planning and design approaches; monitoring and feedback; anticipating and troubleshootig problems
Instructional and interaction design
Principles and practices with regard to information, graphic, and interaction design (e.g. balance, sequencing, scale, composition etc). Joining instructional design to same
Standards and Formats
Audio, video and image formats, ebook and mobile app formats, web standards and formats, rich internet applications, media players, codecs etc; E-learning standards and SCORM: packaging standards, communications standards and metadata standards; tool for development
