Module Description: This module covers all aspects of the Licensing Acts dating back to 1833 and their impact on trading for the manager of a Licensed premises.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Choose the correct principles of legislation for factual situations.
LO3 Identify the legal requirements required to manage a Licensed Premises.
LO4 Control a Licensed Premises in the matters of trading hours, licenses, restrictions and offences.
LO5 Analyse the security considerations necessary to operate within the legal requirements for the licensed trade sector.

Trading hours, Public houses, Off licence/ Supermarkets, Hotels, Restaurants/ Special restaurant licence, Wine retailers licence, Theatre licence, Club licence, Late night trading/ night clubs, Special Exemption Orders.
The Smoking Ban
Licensing, Regulations, Smoking areas, Defence.
Control of the premises
Control of Prices, Gambling, Drunkenness, Disorderly conduct, Illegal drugs, Gardai, Thieves & prostitutes, Advertising and Promotions.
Under age persons
Regulations, Employment
Licences
Application for all types of licence, Renewal, upgrades and transfers, Fire Officers Role, Tax clearance certificates. Food Safety Authority of Ireland regulations.
Offences
Endorsements, Fines, Temporary closure order.
Security
Employment of security personnel, Use of agency, Security control of the premises, Use of security equipment.
