Module Description: This module encourages the student to broaden, deepen & challenge their personal area of research, assisting them in the identification and selection of appropriate areas and modes of research and production. Students will identify and expand relevant programmes of study and methods of construction.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Review new and existing selected research material assessing pertinent issues.
LO2 Formulate a programme of study and execute using a range of appropriate media and processes.
LO3 Implement suitable levels of awareness of health and safety issues.
LO4 Identify a range of technical areas to be developed in relation to the research area.
LO5 Select a means of production appropriate to their personal research.
LO6 Explain and implement adequate levels of selection and presentation skills.

Identification, analysis and development of pertinent critical and practical areas of research including an imaginative and innovative response to research materials gathered.
Concept
Identification and development of pertinent issues related to the conceptual development.
Skill Development
Awareness and investigation of Historical and Contemporary contexts. Interpretation of skills, appropriate to the creative development of a personal body of work.
Processes
identification, selection and development of appropriate media and methods of production in both 2D / 3D areas challenging the principles of the research and ensuring an ongoing ability to develop the research material
Time Management
Identification, structure and planning of the time available with consideration of the process requirements.
Health and Safety
Identification and application of relevant health and safety issues in relation to processes, skills and workshop operation.
