Module Description: This module describes the concepts and principles of Human Resource Management (HRM) in contemporary business organisations. It examines developments in HRM arising out of the historical practices of Personnel Management and assesses the impact of modern management on the HRM function.

The origins of HRM in personnel management in its various historical manifestations, contrasting personnel management and HRM, the nature of contemporary HRM, HRM and performance, the processes and practices of HRM, for example planning, recruitment and selection, training and development.
