Module Description: In this module advanced analysis of core financing and investment decisions within the Agriculture and Horticulture related business sectors incorporating start-up, growth, sustainability and decline will be studied. A cross modular project detailing financial projections for a start-up business will be completed in conjunction with Agribusiness innovation AGRI8002.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Evaluate the core financial and investment decisions in the agriculture and horticulture business sector.
LO2 Complete a comprehensive set of projections for an agriculture or horticulture related business incorporating strategic business planning.
LO3 Evaluate the asset and finance mix in financing decisions involving the choice of a multitude of sources of financing.
LO4 Undertake an appraisal of working capital management techniques and cash conversion cycles.

Core Financial Management Environment Decisions
An understanding of critical financial management decisions for an Agribusiness organisation - financing, investment and dividend decisions.
Strategic Business Planning Projections
Completion of comprehensive business planning projections for an Agribusiness organisation. The implications of risk in new product innovation and business expansion will be examined.
Sources of Finance and the Financial Environment
Consideration of the asset and financing mix for an Agribusiness organisation. Evaluation of alternative sources of finance. Assessing the merits and suitability of short, medium and long term sources of credit.
Working Capital Management Decisions
Introduction to working capital management for an Agribusiness organisation. Calculation of cash conversion cycles. Management of inventory, trade receivables, trade payables and cash. Evaluating the impact of alternative working capital management strategies.
