Identify correct jointing methods for assembling the different window components. |
LO2 |
Prepare a working drawing incorporating jointing techniques, weathering, sealing, draught proofing and moulding detailing. |
LO3 |
Measure and outline material shape and size requirements for the sash and frame sections. |
LO4 |
Set out accurately the jointing details in accordance with building regulations. |
LO5 |
Execute to a high finish and tolerance the sawing, chiselling assembly and fitting the assembled sections. |
LO6 |
Apply safe working practices with tools and machinery during all workshop operations. |
Indicative Content |
Workshop Practice
Marking out, Sawing square in both vertical and horizontal planes. Morticing, chiselling fitting, assembly(squaring, twist prevention, gluing and wedging) and finishing.

Materials
Natural softwood PAO manufactured boards facilitation of glass, protective coatings, draughtproofing and sealing materials.

Jointing
Single, double and barefaced mortise and tenoning.Housed wedged and double splayed moulded bridle

Setting Out
Preparation of working drawing and setting out boards in accordance with building regulations. Detailing to comply with building regulation energy requirements.Transferring joint detailing to materials.

Safety
Conduct a Risk Assessment and use safe working practice in relation to tool and machine operation (Mortiser, spindle moulder, bandsaw, pillar drill ).
