Module Description: This module provides a first opportunity for the learner to present an open recital in an informal setting.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Display progression of practical skill, musical phrasing and improvement in concentration required for an instrumental performance
LO2 Implement a basic programme of work towards the achievement of a recital standard of performance
LO3 Display applied stylistical knowledge of instrumental and chamber music repertory
LO4 Function successfully as a member of a group showing understanding of ensemble playing with regards to voice leading and blending within the group

Strong evidence of performing ability. Normally, a mark of at least 70% in Core Instrumental Studies 2 or Core Instrumental Studies 3 performance evaluation is required.

Specialised solo introductory recital
An appropriate programme which articulates genre specific performance skills focussing on stylistic and interpretative awareness, opportunities to play for peers, concentration and a sense of communication in performance
Specialised chamber music introductory recital
An ensemble performance focussing on musical interaction as a member of a group
