Module Description: This module provides a comprehensive understanding of the concepts and requirements for running and maintaining an effective fleet operation.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Fleet Requirements
Analysing requirements and suitability of various options for vehicle fleets (goods vehicles, passenger transport, passenger cars, etc); technical requirements; vehicle procurement and financing options; replacement cycles and depreciation considerations.
Fleet Maintenance
Maintenance and running considerations; operating costs; managing fuel consumption; cost of vehicle downtime; maintenance contract agreements; maintenance schedules and recording; body repair considerations; workshop and tooling requirements.
Safety & Welfare
Driver training; health and safety considerations; safety considerations relating to self-drive vehicle hire; fuel storage considerations.
Environmental Considerations
Environmental impacts of various fleet and transport options and associated costs; waste disposal and recycling considerations.
Vehicle Costing
Costing systems used in fleet operations.
Fleet operations documentation
All documents necessary for fleet operations. These documents should include those necessary for the driver, vehicle and load for both national and international journeys.
