Module Description: In this module, students will gain an introductory understanding of the psychoanalytic theories of development. They will gain an understanding of attachment theory and Erikson's 8-stage theory of development. They will apply these insights to their own early life experience.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Describe attachment theory and a variety of attachment styles.
LO3 Apply attachment style concept to his/her own experience of attachment.
LO4 Describe Erikson's 8-stage theory of development.
LO5 Use Erikson's 8-stage theory of development to review the early stages of his/her own life experience.

1. An introduction to Attachment Theory: attachment needs, attachment styles, internal working model, the strange experiment. 2. The developmental theory of Erik Erikson: the eight stages of life. 3. Application of attachment theory and Erikson's developmental theory to his/her own early life experience.
