Module Description: This module focuses on the challenges and opportunities associated with the management of organisations and projects in the global environment. Students will explore the impact of culture on management and project management, utilising case studies of international and global organisations and projects to recognise challenges and recommend successful management practices.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Management, levels, skills, roles and functions.
Introduction to Project Management
Attributes of projects, project constraints, project stakeholders, role and responsibilities of the project manager, success factors, reasons for failure, project lifecycle stages. Project Management Knowledge Areas. Project Management Methodologies. Predictive, agile, and hybrid approaches.
Challenges of Managing International Organisations and Projects
Planning, organising, leading and controlling organisations and projects in a global environment. Managing diversity, change and ethical issues. Managing project risk, uncertainty, time, cost and quality.
The Impact of Culture on the Management of Organisations and Projects
The role of culture. Cross-cultural communication, negotiation and decision-making. Analysing culture – Sociology Framework, Psychological Framework, Expansive Framework, the GLOBE study. Culture Framework integration.

Assessment Description
Students will be required to apply their learnings to a specific organisation and/or project assigned to them. E.g. students will analyse a scenario in global management and/or project management, examining the specific challenges present in this case, and formulating recommendations for how the management and/or project team should respond to these challenges.
