Module Description: This module integrates the disciplines of Eco psychology, nature-based practices and arts based practices into an Eco Arts Practice approach which can be applied within education, therapy and/or community engagement. Students will reflect on the ethical, psychological and sociological underpinnings of Eco Arts Practice through lectures and experiential workshops. They will also explore specific approaches to Eco Arts Practice and how it relates to their field of professional practice.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Understand and critique Eco psychology theories and discuss their influence on nature informed arts practice
LO2 Identify specific approaches to Eco arts practice and how they could be integrated into one's practice
LO3 Critically reflect on the ethical, psychological and sociological underpinnings of Eco Arts Practice.
LO4 Define, differentiate and apply eco-arts practice techniques as interventions with a variety of groups and settings
LO5 Reflect on the different views on interconnection between humans and the natural world and how these differing views might influence practice.

Education, Arts Therapies or Participatory Arts Practice. Alternatively, learners could have completed the Principles of Art Therapy, Creativity and Change SPA, or have other relevant experience.
 
Indicative Content
Foundations of Eco Arts Practice
Reflect on the ethical, psychological and sociological underpinnings of Eco Arts Practice. Understand and critique the links between Eco psychology, nature based therapies and arts-based practice.
Practice Based Approaches
Devise and facilitate experiential approaches to eco arts practice and critically appraise peer led workshops.
Practice Based Case Study
Devise a group protocol and facilitate a workshop. Demonstrate an understanding of practice based considerations within a specific discipline and critically reflect on elective practice.
