Module Description: The module aims to demonstrate the benefits of electronic take-off and BIM to construction projects in order to enhance the students knowledge of automated and electronic measurement.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Electronic Design Information
The managment of drawings in electronic format, storage retrieval and measurement from electronic drawings, understanding different electronic drawing file formats, the use of cloud computing, collaboration.
Building Information Modelling (BIM)
Introduction to BIM, definitions of BIM, 3D, 4D, and 5D modelling, key components in relation to measurement and estimating.
Computerised Electronic Take-off
The application of 2D computerised quantity take-off software packages to construction measurement and estimating.
Use of BIM in Quantity Take-off
The use of BIM software packages for extracting quantities directly from the model.
