Module Description: Practical and effective methods of project management practices for projects in the built environment from inception to completion. The learner will plan, schedule, estimate and produce cash flow projections for a project. Management and coordination of project teams.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Project Management theory and concepts
The functions of project management, project controls, stakeholder management, scope definition, leadership, motivation and conflict management. Project life cycle; Typical work plan, project stages and industry standard practice for Project Management.
Professional Practice and Project Organisation
The project manager: roles and responsibilities. Professional practice and project organisation types: functional, pure project, and matrix organisation. Quality management within the organisation including ISO standards.
Project Planning and Analysis
Project life-cycle. Planning. Phasing. Resource allocation and leveling. Estimating duration of tasks. Project control: Performance analysis. Critical path analysis and construction logic.
Fee Management and Project Cost Planning
Professional practice fee management and Bid management. Estimating construction project budgets based on elemental cost plans using historical cost data.
Legislation & Regulations
Roles and responsibilities of all team members under Building Control Amendment Regulation (BCAR), Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, Design Risk Assessments (DRA's).
