Module Description: This module aims to provide an understanding of the role and context of management in relation to construction organisations and projects.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Classical, behavioural, human relations, systems, contingency, emerging.
Principles of Management
Forecasting, planning, organising, motivating, co-ordinating, controlling, communicating.
Motivation
Process theories, content theories. Motivation of construction operatives and staff. Theory application in construction organisations.
Leadership
Leadership theories: traits, styles, behaviour studies. Leadership versus management.
Group Dynamics
Construction groups and teams in construction, group formation, stages in group dynamics.
