Module Description: This module describes construction methods applied to industrial and commercial buildings including structural frames, structural fire protection & means of escape, system buildings, service installations and refurbishment.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Structural frames
Reinforced concrete frames (incl. form work), precast concrete frames, structural steel frames and structural timber frames (over two-storey).
System buildings
System buildings: pre-fabrication, large panel systems, lift slab, tilt-up slab.
Refurbishment
Building performance and standards. Energy audit. Life cycle of the building.
Fire protection measures
Structural fire protection, passive measures, means of escape.
Services installations (builders work)
Builders work for mechanical and electrical services.
