Module Description: This module describes how a construction manager can optimise the use of resources on construction projects using modern construction planning and control procedures.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Design Team Management
Design principles, drawing and specification production, information, cost planning and value engineering, procurement, tendering procedures, post tender documentation production and control.
Analytical Management Systems
Critical path evaluation and significance: using the relevant software.
Construction Planning and Programming including LEAN methodologies.
Sequencing, work breakdown structures, duration calculation, resource levelling, line of balance, systems management: tender, contract, short-term, and claims planning. LEAN construction and the last planner system.
Optimising Construction Site Layouts
Site resource management, site traffic management, documentation control on site, site communication systems.
Resource Management Software
Apply project management software to budgetary and resource requirements.
Project Control Systems
Programme related cashflow, budgeting, progress recording techniques.
