Module Description: This module is aimed at students who have a fundamental knowledge of the German language (CEFR Level A1.1). It aims to strengthen and deepen existing language skills and cultural awareness. The module is taught at CEFR level A1.2 (also commonly referred to as upper A1 level or A1+).
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Landeskunde
German customs and etiquette (sample topics: food in Germany; festivals in Austria; traditions in Switzerland; dining etiquette; visitor etiquette; forms of address). Historical figures from German-speaking regions.
Language content
General and everyday situations requiring interaction and negotiation at a basic level, such as making purchases, asking for directions and issuing invitations. Basic business situations such as office organisation, going on a tour of a company, getting to know new colleagues,
Grammar
Cases, prepositions, pronouns, possessive articles, indirect questions.
