Module Description: This module explores the aviation business and its environment from the perspective of those that may have some exposure to that industry. The module looks at the strategic, tactical and operational aspects of the business while exploring trends and challenges. Key aspects of the aviation ecosystem are discussed including human resource management, risk management and aviation finance.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Evaluate the strategic challenges and opportunities of the aviation world with respect to aviation, aviation infrastructure and airlines.
LO2 Appraise the functional aspects of aviation finance with respect to its operation and its sectoral context with particular emphasis on hedging and leasing.
LO3 Evaluate various existing and emergent business models at the heart of the aviation industry and its associated business segments.
LO4 Analyse the specific challenges associated with various business functions within the aviation industry with specific emphasis on HRM, Marketing and Logistics.
LO5 Discuss the stakeholder environment of the aviation industry while detailing knowledge of regulation, competition, shareholders and the macro environment.

Airline finance, leasing, time value of money, fuel hedging, financial performance and measurement, management of cash flow, management of capital assets.
Marketing & Business Development in Aviation
Marketing in the Airline Industry, industrial buying behaviour, consumer buying behaviour, segmentation in the air-passenger industry, segmentation in the air-freight business, PESTEL Analysis, Marketing Strategies, Customer service, Channel Management.
HRM in the Aviation Sector
