Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Preparation of CV and Placement application process. Critique the role the BioPharmaChem Industry in Ireland.
LO2 Perform a range of tasks encountered in the laboratory and/or other environments within the BioPharmaChem industry / research organisation.
LO3 Maintain a record of training received and activities performed in the workplace.
LO4 Assess the role of chemical/QC laboratories within the host organisation.
LO5 Submit a final written report of training received and experience gained.

Requirements

Students to have completed modules for a level 6 qualification in chemistry or related discipline, and to be currently taking the final year of the level 7 programme or the penultimate year of the level 8 programme
 
Indicative Content
Application Preparation
Write targetted Curriculum Vitae for circulation to the placement companies. Prepare for interviews. Review and report on the role of BioPharmaChem Industry in Ireland.
Work Placement
Undergo placement interviews. Complete a placement (minimum of 10-weeks) within a company/research group. Obtain training from host organisation. Perform tasks as required by relevant supervisor(s). Submit written report.
Poster Presentation
Design a poster for post-placement presentation outlining the specific job role in the placement company/research group and the role within the wider BioPharmaChem ecosystem.
