Module Description: This module will examine current contemporary issues facing business today. It will look at the changing landscape of business through globalisation and changing technological trends. The role of corporate social responsibility and ethics will also be examined. An analysis of the key economic pillars in Ireland as well as the role of government and policy will be scrutinised. Finally, entrepreneurship and role of the SME in Irish business will be detailed.

Globalisation & Technological Trends
Globalisation and technological change have revolutionised the business environment. Today's businesses must be aware of the opportunity and threats associated with these issues.
Corporate Social Responsibility & Ethics
Businesses have become much more aware of their social responsibility and the ethical nature of their behaviour. This is now used as a 'badge of pride' for many firms. Consumers and the general public are now demanding that businesses act and behave appropriately. This section examines these issues in detail.
Economic Pillars
Understanding the functioning of the current business environment from a national perspective is extremely important. Here, key industries will be examined such as Technology, Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Financial Services, Agri-Business & Tourism.
Government & Policy
The role and structure of government and the policies they implement have a significant impact on Irish business. The major policies and changes in government that affect business will be examined.
Entrepreneurship & SMEs
Entrepreneurship and SMEs have an important role in business. These concepts will be defined and examined in detail to understand the factors that promote and impede the level of entrepreneurialism in the economy.
