Module Description: In this module students will be facilited to formulate and analyse their integration of the clinical and personal dimensions in their practice of Psychotherapy.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Describe and apply an integrative framework that reflects an integration between the clinical and personal dimensions of Psychotherapy
LO2 Demonstrate an advanced capability for self-reflective practice, self-understanding, showing a fluent awareness of the connections between his/her personal process as it arises in the group process, in his/her work with clients as well as in his/her wider life.
LO3 Analyse and critically evaluate the impact of attitudes and values concerning race, culture, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, class and gender in the personal and clinical process
LO4 Analyse and critically evaluate the impact of personal process in the co-created therapeutic relationship and identify and analyse the countertransference responses that arise.
LO5 Demonstrate a fluent awareness of and willingness to engage with difficult and challenging phenomena in the therapeutic encounter.

Weekly personal psychotherapy is a requirement for the durtation of this module.
 
Indicative Content
Integrating the different dimensions of psychotherapy
Developing an integration of theory, practice and personal process and thus form the basis of integrative Practitioning.
Personal process and the co-created therapeutic relationship
Developing reflective awareness of the impact of personal process in the co-created therapeutic relationship and identifying and analysing the countertransference responses that arise.
Countertransference responses
Exploring general countertransference responses in Psychotherapy, as well as countertransference responses to challenging phenomena in the therapeutic encounter and relate them to personal process.
Developing awareness of personal process patterns
Developing self-reflective practice, self-understanding, awareness of the connections between personal process as it arises in the group process, in work with clients as well as in wider life.
Engaging with difficult and challenging phenomena
Identifying and engaging with difficult and challenging phenomena such as enactment and a variety of countertransference responses in the therapeutic encounter.
Issue of race, culture, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation,
Awareness of attitudes and values concerning issues of race, culture, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, class and gender
