Module Description: In this module students will learn
i) the principles and practices of constructing a family genogram;
ii) to construct and analyse a genogram of his/her own family of origin;
iii) to identify transgenerational family patterns and their impact.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Describe and review the process of analysing a family genogram.
LO2 Construct a genogram of his/her own family of origin using a professional software application.
LO3 Describe and analyse the concept of transgenerational patterns and how they are transmitted in the extended family system
LO4 Identify key transgenerational patterns in his/her extended family system and review their impact.
LO5 Describe and analyse key transgenerational factors which have influenced his/her own personal process.

Using genogram software. Constructing a genogram. Analysing a genogram. Assessing the impact of transgenerational patterns. Using a genogram to identify unresolved personal process issues. The principles and practices involved in dealing with grief and loss.
