Module Description: In this module, students will be introduced to the theory and practice of the Person-Centred approach to counselling.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Describe and analyse person-centred concept of the organismic self.
LO3 Describe and appraise how the learned self-concept is developed and perpetuated.
LO4 Describe and evaluate the concept of the actualisation process and its various possible outcomes.
LO5 Describe and evaluate the principles and practices of person-centred therapy.

Indicative Content
Person-Centred Counselling Theory
The counselling theory of Carl Rogers: the person-centred approach, person-centred theory of personality, and person-centred theory of therapy. This will include the concepts of actualising tendency, organismic valuing process, conditions of worth, learned self-concept, the actualisation process, ego syntonic process, the core conditions, the seven stages of process, the fully functioning person.
