Module Description: This module introduces and describes core Human Resource Management (HRM) functions common across contemporary business organisations. It explores the concept of HRM integration in planning and performance, and examines trends currently impacting the HRM function.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Human Resource Planning
Importance of integration between HR and Business Planning, HR Planning Cycle, Assessment of manpower requirements.
Recruitment and Selection
Pre-recruitment: Job Analysis, Job Description, Person Specification, Terms and Conditions. Recruitment techniques, selection techniques, errors and biases in recruitment and selection, outsourcing, use of technology.
Performance Management
Individual, team and organisational performance, performance appraisals, feedback, goal-setting.
Training and Development
Identifying training needs, planning, implementing and reviewing training and development initiatives.
Current and Future Trends
Current and future trends affecting the HRM function.
