Module Description: This module provides students with the skills required to successfully design, create and publish business-related websites. It will also teach them how to prepare multimedia content for websites.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Explain the principal technologies involved in the World Wide Web and the issues pertaining to the implementation of web applications.
LO2 Determine and document the requirements for a website.
LO3 Apply design principles to the process of creating a website.
LO4 Use multimedia tools to prepare content such as images, video and sound.
LO5 Develop a website which integrates social media platforms and is optimized for search.

WWW and Internet Technologies
Internet architecture, how the World Wide Web works, HTML, CSS and content management systems.
Web Page Planning
Requirements gathering and analysis, understanding website goals and objectives, Using personas and outlining user experiences in site design.
Web Page Design
Design principles and issues, sketches and mockups, storyboards and wireframes.
Website Development
HTML CSS and Wordpress.
Multimedia
Adobe suite and/or cloud-based tools for image, sound, motion graphics and visual effects.
Digital Media Integration
Social Media integration, Optimizing your website, promoting blog posts on social media. Use tools/techniques such as sharing buttons, follow buttons, comments, post broadcasting.
