Module Description: Determining and analysing the Information System needs of organisations and end users is a key discipline. The key to effective business analysis is to provide specification of what functionality a software system will provide its users, rather than how the software will be designed. This Module focuses on how business analysts and business systems analysts can provide developers with concise specifications of the problem domain within which a software solution will be constructed.This module equips students with the techniques and skills that are needed to analyse the IS needs of end-users.

The Systems Development Lifecycle. The Waterfall Model. Rapid Application Development (RAD). Agile Development. Feasibility Analysis
Requirements Analysis
The process of Requirements Discovery. Fact Finding Techniques. Isikawa Diagrams and Sampling Techniques.
The Analysis Phase
Use Case Analysis. Data Modelling: Entity Relationship Diagrams, Normalization.
Object Oriented Analysis
Behavioural Modelling: Activity Diagrams, Systems Sequence Diagrams, State Machine Diagrams. Structural Modelling: Classes, Attributes & Operations; Class Identification; Class Relationships; Class Diagrams.
Soft Skills for Systems Analysts
