(a) A comprehensive knowledge of the theory, policies, concepts and pedagogical methods pertaining to Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) and School Age Childcare (SAC), with placement of children’s rights to the forefront (UNCRC 1989, ratified by Ireland 1992).
(b) The ability to support sustainable and inclusive practice through selection and utilisation of relevant knowledge sources and applications of key principles relating to children’s rights, equality and diversity, additional needs, EAL (English as an additional language), outdoor learning, physical movement and adapted physical education.

(a) The ability to apply appropriate theoretical concepts and to utilise the necessary skills to plan for instruction and design of ECEC and SAC curricular environments that promote and support rights and responsibilities, critical thinking, independence and interdependence, well-being, care and respect for self, others and the environment.
