On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Describe the principal techniques and benefits of Effective Purchasing, Forecasting, Supplier Development and Performance Appraisal.
LO3 Describe how to effectively negotiate and build deep supplier relationships to optimise the supply network.
LO4 Describe how to deliver and optimise cost savings and ensure longterm effective cost management within the supply network.

The Role of the procurement department. Procurement and purchasing. Purchasing Procedures - operational and tactical level. Procurement - strategic level. Total Cost of Ownership(TCO) principles. Managing prices and variance. Global sourcing. Public procurement.
Negotiation and Partnership
Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Supplier development. Vendor Managed Invenotry (VMI) and Vendor Owned Inventory (VOI). Negotiating Strategic Alliances. The critical role of supplier and partner selection. Negotiating and Building Deep Supplier Relationships. Outsourcing initiatives.
