This module aims to develop in the student an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Montessori theory and principles related to the education of children 6-9 years. Students will explore Dr. Montessori's approach to education in relation to the 6-9 year old child.

Teacher as a facilitator, concept of freedom, the importance of the prepared environment, wider horizons, cosmic education, development of imagination, planes of development, needs and characteristics of the child from 6-9 years of age.

Bloom's and Solo's Taxonomies and their application.

Classroom management techniques in the 6-9 year old's classroom
Examine a variety of classroom management techniques such as positive discipline, reward systems, class organisation, punishment, freedom and discipline.
