Module Description: This module equips the student with composer- and era-specific tools with which to compose their own original songs. Through the exploration of specific musical devices such as harmony, form, lyrics and melody, the student will compile and perform a portfolio of original compositions, written to a specific brief.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Compose songs to a specific stylistic brief, utilising harmonic, structural, lyrical and melodic devices appropriate to the era
LO3 Assemble original compositions in a stylistically expansive portfolio
LO4 Perform original compositions in a context sympathetic to the style of the song
LO5 Discuss the relevant biographical features and career paths of specified songwriters
