This module introduces key constructs, theories and processes of children’s individual differences in wellbeing and psychological adjustment during childhood with particular emphases on the contribution of developmental psychopathology to understand childhood problems.

Child Wellbeing
Child Wellbeing and Normative behaviour. The major factors affecting children’s health, beginning with major influences on mortality and morbidity in social policy, legislation and healthcare services. Current issues facing children with ‘Additional Needs’ educational settings.

Models of abnormality
Contemporary pscyhological models of abnormality: psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioural, humanistic and sociocultural explanations and interventions

Assessment and Diagnosis
Assessment methods and procedures. Clinical testing. Therapeutic interventions. Classification systems (DSM and ICD) Diagnostic processes and procecdures
