On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Use stylistically relevant harmonic devices for the given instrumentation
LO3 Apply a range of orchestral textures and exploit the possibilities of the rhythm section
LO4 Direct a commercial concert orchestra utilising fundamental conducting techniques
LO5 Analyse an orchestral score and identify and describe the discrete elements

Sectional Techniques
The study of idiomatic devices for small sections and combinations of instruments
Analysis
Analysis of pre-existing arrangements, identifying form, harmony, texture, and rhythmic devices in the work of such artists as Nelson Riddle, Quincy Jones, and Vince Mendoza
Scoring
Preparationof a fully-notated score and parts for commercial concert orchestra
Conducting
Employ acquired conducting skills to direct own arrangement
