Module Description: This is the seventh in a progressive series of group workshop modules. It facilitates the student’s advanced practical engagement with popular music repertory and the development of public performance. Intensive directed tuition extends musical, technical and stylistic precision across various musical genres in the context of public performance. Students are required to lead by example - progressively managing their time and effectively streamlining daily practice routines to aid the collaborative development of each ensemble and a short public performance.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Musically engage an audience through a short public performance of challenging and stylistically varied ensemble repertory.
LO2 Streamline the management of an efficient practice regime to enhance the collaborative development of each ensemble and set example to peers.
LO3 Integrate stylistic choices with proficient instrumental technique to expresively interact with musical peers.
LO4 Successfully integrate technical ability with sympathetic musical choices to perform a short improvised solo section with an ensemble.
LO5 Demonstrate consistent sight-reading precision to streamline rehearsal productivity.

Indicative Content
Public Performance Development:
The progressive development of musical, technical, stylistic considerations is addressed within the context of authentic ensemble interaction and active audience engagement.
Time Management:
The ability to learn independently has been established throughout previous modules. Here students are required to progressively manage their time and effectively streamline their daily practice routine in order to meet the demands of the progressive ensemble repertory.
Odd Meter Repertory:
Ensemble repertory for performance will expand to include odd meter time signatures.
Continuous Assessment:
Each individual student is monitored on a weekly basis. Considerations such as attendance/ punctuality, participation/ leadership, preparedness, development of ensemble performance ability and contribution to ensemble progress are all taken into account in the context of the progressive requirements of the module.
