Module Description: This module provides learners with knowledge and understanding of the rationale for the emergence of employee engagement as a key priority for organisations and will enable them to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to assess the research, experiential and anecdotal evidence surrounding both the processes that facilitate employee engagement and the outcomes that may follow.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Critically analyse connections between employee engagement, managerial leadership and organisational and HR strategies.
LO2 Explore the critical contribution of employee engagement as a route to strategic, reputational and competitive excellence within a high-performance working environment.
LO3 Undertake an analysis of the relationships between levels of employee engagement and organisational performance.
LO4 Create a cost effective and strategically defensible action plan for promoting employee engagement within an organisation.
LO5 Systemically evaluate levels of employee engagement within organisations, functions and business units.

Concept exploration of employee engagement, including how it can be linked to and yet be distinguished from other related concepts such as involvement, participation, organisational citizenship and discretionary behaviour.
Strategy
Employee engagement pursued as a strategic imperative; implications for every thread of HR strategy and Practice; HR planning, resourcing, learning and development, performance management and reward.
Implementation
Implement HR strategies and practices intended to raise levels of employee engagement in a specific organisational context.

Competing approaches that contextualise contemporary developments in employment relations.
Contemporary
Contemporary developments in employee involvement and participation.
Project
Undertake a project (ideally cross-modular) to design and implement a study to evaluate how employee engagement impacts organisational performance.
