Module Description: The placement programme will familiarise the student with work practices and procedures and provide them with the opportunity to observe the application of theoretical knowledge gained on their programme, and the integration of engineering, scientific, and other disciplines in commercial operation. The placement is supported by a member of departmental staff together with a workplace mentor. The aim of the industrial placement is to introduce the learner to structured employment in a relevant work sector and to develop in the learner an understanding of the organisation, its procedures and technology.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Placement applications
The student shall research relevant placement opportunities.The student shall prepare for the recruitment process by placement organisations by researching the organisations structures and activities. Placement opportunities will be validated by lecturer coordinating the placement module.
